Dan Hunt is an internationally recognized expert in high performance, leadership, and team culture, known for his strategic approach to achieving success in elite sports. With a career spanning multiple disciplines, he has coached athletes to gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, European Championships, Track World Cups, World Championships, and the London 2012 Olympics. His deep understanding of marginal gains, motivation, and peak performance has positioned him as a leading figure in sports coaching and executive leadership.
Dan began his journey in elite performance after earning an MSc in Exercise Science, quickly rising from an assistant sports scientist at the University of Bath to senior physiologist at a National Institute of Sport. In 2005, he was recruited by the Great Britain Cycling Team to revolutionize their struggling Women’s Endurance Team. In just two and a half years, Dan led them to four Olympic medals and sustained their success through the Beijing 2008 Olympics. By 2009, his team had medaled in every World Championship event, reclaiming dominance in races Britain had been absent from for over 20 years.
His ability to cultivate a podium mentality—the mindset and discipline required to win—was further demonstrated when he transitioned to Team Sky in 2013 as Sports Director, where he helped shape the team into a cycling powerhouse. Later, as Performance Director at GB Snowsport, he applied his high-performance philosophy to winter sports, setting new standards for elite coaching.
Currently, as Performance Director at The Premier League, Dan Hunt leads the implementation of the Elite Player Performance Plan, an ambitious youth development system designed to nurture and develop homegrown football talent. His work in talent identification, leadership development, and team cohesion bridges the gap between sports and business, offering valuable lessons for corporate teams striving for excellence.
As a keynote speaker, Dan’s presentations are dynamic, insightful, and practical. He draws powerful parallels between elite sports and business strategy, helping organizations understand how culture change, marginal gains, and leadership psychology drive success. His storytelling, drawn from experiences in Olympic and professional sports, captivates audiences and delivers actionable takeaways that inspire teams to think, act, and perform like champions.
