Speaker profile
Hanna Brotherus is a choreographer, author and specialist in embodied wellbeing whose work moves along the borders of art, humanity and change. She has created more than 30 full-length choreographies and dozens of community projects in Finland and internationally. Her work has received several awards, and she is known for a brave way of making visible themes that belong to the human body and to life.
Brotherus is also a novelist. Her books have stirred deep recognition and gratitude for honest, embodied and moving storytelling. Her debut novel Ainoa kotini became a major success, and the later book Äitini, tyttäreni (Tammi 2024) deepens the theme of generations, contradictory parenthood and seeing one another through the body and through experience. Hanna writes as she speaks: honestly, with presence, and on the side of humanity.
As a speaker Hanna brings a rare combination of quiet strength, lived experience and intuitive sensitivity. She talks about what it is to be a person: not a machine built to perform, but a human being who feels, who is unfinished and still valuable. Her talks make the listener stop, breathe and ask essential questions about their own life.
Hanna's themes bring together change, care, courage and listening to the body. She takes up contradictory parenthood, the chain of generations, connection to oneself and to others, and how humanity can flourish even under pressure and a culture of performance. She does not offer quick fixes. She invites genuinely present thinking and being.
Brotherus is a sought-after speaker at wellbeing events, workplace development days, cultural occasions and seminars for organisations looking for growth. Her appearances are experiential, moving and memorable.
